In this course we will be focusing on combinations of letter sounds such as CVC Words and Sight words.
The course also contains some fluency exercises using a combination of CVC words and sight words. Simple sentences are also used to build fluency.
A CVC word is a word that is made up of a consonant, vowel and a consonant. The child will learn to decode the Vowel Consonant sound to make combinations of CVC Words. CVC words are some of the earliest words children learn to read and write as they use the basic letter sounds learnt first in phonics teaching and then the next stage will be introducing to Blends and Digraphs.
Sight words is a common term in reading which is applied to early reading instruction, it typically refers to the set of about 100 words that keeps reappearing on almost any page of text. Having mastered the sights words, child/student will be more confident in fluency and reading comprehension.
